Spray Tans
Below are some common questions about our self-tanning products
Exfoliate 24 hours prior to your spray tan with a basic loofah or wash rag. Also, stay away from any heavy exfoliating oils. After showering DO NOT apply lotions, oils, or perfumes.
Shaving should be done 12 hours before your spray tan. Streaks may be an issue in your final tan if you shave right before due to the wax from the shaving bar.
Manicures, pedicures, and waxing should all be done prior to your spray tan.
Make sure to bring loose fitting clothes with you for after your spray tan.
Absolutely NO soap.
A really slow rinse with luke-warm water is best. Only use your hands to remove the bronzer, and focus your attention to your legs, behind your arms, etc.
The #1 cause for streaks is that the bronzer was not rinsed off properly and can stain the skin for a few days.
Hop back in the shower and do another rinse. If that doesn’t help, rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab will help remove the streak. Keep in mind that it will also remove the tan in the area you apply it to and you will need to respray if that happens.
Wait 12 hours AFTER your initial rinse before applying any kind of lotion. CeraVe is Isabel's favorite lotion. Moisturizing is the key to prolong your spray tan so moisturizing twice daily will give you the best results. It’s also important to stay hydrated and drink lots of water throughout the day.
Wait 24 hours for it to fully develop after rinsing. If it’s still not dark enough, you can respray over it.
Try rinsing again, soak in a bath tub, or sit in a sauna/jacuzzi. These methods will remove some of the bronzer to lighten the color.
Yes! The most important thing to remember is that the solution does not contain any UV protection/sunscreen. You will still be able to develop a tan naturally in the sun.
NO! You will be blotchy.
Yes, it will remove majority of the tan and/or lighten it. Seawater, chlorine, and hot tubs can accelerate the fading of the tan. I recommend wearing waterproof sunscreen to help repel the water.
To the appointment: Loose fitting dark clothes.
During the tan: Bra/underwear, swimwear, or nude. Whatever you are most comfortable with.
DHA is FDA approved and only penetrates the outermost layer of the skin. There is no evidence that DHA is harmful. However, we do recommend that you consult with your physician first.
Not unless you are completely healed. You should never tan with healing/open wounds.
Only if the area is completely healed.
Yes, but must have parent’s consent.
We recommend scheduling a patch test prior to coming in for a full spray tan.
Normally yes, but a waiver will need to be signed prior to getting spray tanned.
Yes, the first few days minimum cosmetic bronzer might minimally rub off on your clothes etc. But, most cosmetic bronzer does rinse off.
Please visit the scheduling option above and select your desired appointment time to spray tan with Isabel.
The best time to get spray tanned before any event is 2-3 days prior.
Please wait 16 - 24 hours and we recommend additionally rinsing off prior to working out. This will wash away any remaining bronzer – which is the cosmetic portion of your spray tan.
No, you will not appear orange with a Dolce Glow Tan. We use the highest quality solution and guarantee that you will not turn orange.
The length of your spray tan depends on the maintenance afterwards. Most people notice their tan beginning to fade after about 4-7 days. Moisturizing and staying hydrated are two important factors to support the length of your tan.
At Dolce Glow, our technicians are trained in color matching and will help you decide on the best solution and/or tone for you the day of your spray tan appointment.
Self-Tanners
Below are some common questions about our spray tans
All our self-tanners are beginner friendly. We launched different forms of tanners so that there’s one for every type of sunless tanner out there!
Our mist is a fan favorite since it’s easy to apply and is similar to using a spray SPF. Another easy go-to would be the Lusso mousse since it contains a color guide for you. Reminder, this will look darker on application and rinse off to become the beautiful tan underneath.
Skin preparation is key for a seamless application of our self-tanners. We recommend you exfoliate and shave using our Exfoliating Mitt 24 hours prior to application of any Dolce Glow product. Stay away from any heavy exfoliating oils while doing so. Also, make sure your skin is free from any lotions, oils, or perfumes so that you do not create a barrier between your skin and the self tanner. Make sure to wear loose fitted clothing after applying your self-tanner until your first rinse.
Our tanners are great since they are gradual. You can keep it on anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the type of glow you wish to achieve.
Our self-tanners can be left on based on the application times below:
Application time:Leave the product on for the recommended times listed below. Select a time based on your desired appearance.
Light Tan: 2-4 hours
Medium Tan: 4-6 hours
Dark Tan: 6+ hours
No, we do not recommend working out until after your first rinse.
If you feel your tan is too light, don’t worry you can always apply another layer of self-tanner on.
If you feel your tan is too dark, you can do a light rinse with soap.
We say anywhere from 7-10 days. To keep your glow continuous, apply our self-tanners once a week.
Streaky/Blotchy tans stem from a poor skin preparation. We recommend exfoliating and shaving 24 hours. Sometimes streaks can occur due to wax residue left over from shaving right before tanning. Easy fix to this is doing a quick rinse with light soap in the areas with streaks. Same thing goes for blotches.
